這個短語的使用時機是當你要去執行一項任務或是做一件事之際,只許成功不許失敗的決心。就猶如中文的“就算天崩地裂…”,比喻不論發生什麼狀況都要去完成使命。可以用在句首當作一句話的開頭,或是放在句尾補述。

1) He is determined to finish the job come hell or high water.

他決心無論如何都要把工作完成。

2) I don't care what you think! We are going to finish this project come hell or high water.
