荀子曾説過：“不登高山，不知天之高也；不臨深谷，不知地之厚也。”這句話的意思是要想了解“天之高”“地之厚”，必須“登高山”“臨深谷”。“不登”“不臨”是無法瞭解“天”“地”的情況的。人們想要獲得真正的知識，必須親身參與社會實踐。
