認識jerry是在兩年前，當時是去報導一場叫做“讓英語不再是我們永遠的痛”的演講會，主講人就是英語奇才jerrydai。說起來也許你不相信，原本是工作原因，想着拍個新聞照片就走人，而jerry在臺上充滿活力、激情四射的演講在開場的10分鐘就引起我極大的共鳴和興趣。結果我不僅聽完了整個演講，在回家的路上竟然還滿腦子想着一定要把自己的英語按照jerry的辦法提高提高。
能將一場如何學好純正英語的演講變得如此生動精彩，想必這個80年代生的小夥子背後一定有很多自己的故事。當天在後臺我就跟jerry說要作他的專訪。可是慚愧啊慚愧，這採訪一拖就是一年。今個暖冬的第一場大雪後，我們終於約定了採訪時間，有機會認識了一個舞臺下和教室外的jerry。
坐在對面的jerry雖然身着正裝，帶了副斯文的眼鏡，卻絲毫掩飾不了爍爍發光的眼神裏透出的一種“新鮮氣質”。怎麼說呢，那是一種靈氣。採訪當然是用中文進行的（如果用英文估計我聽懂的也就80%）。jerry的國語、英語、甚至連他自己一說都笑得不行的東北土話都說得相當“正宗”。這真是一個語言天才！我想。
我不是一個語言天才
“我其實不是一個語言天才。”jerry坐下來說的第一句話就把我的想法給否決了。
jerry來加拿大才六年多，年少成長的一大段日子都在中國，接受的是典型的中國式敎育。所學的`英語大部分只是死記硬背的單詞和應試技巧。到了這個陌生的國度，他自己講的英語別人聽不懂，而別人的話他也是一知半解，他感覺好像突然與外界有了隔閡。
儘管在出國前有着雄心壯志，jerry卻因爲不能與人溝通，渾身縱有使不完的力氣也無濟於事。於是，他下定決心苦攻英語。“語言根本不是靠天賦的！”jerry又說，“學英語的過程其實是一個自我挑戰的艱辛歷程。”
當初他並不知從何入手。爲了練英語，他想方設法去找當地人聊天，試來試去結果是碰一鼻子灰。他總是先在腦子裏用中文想好要說的話，再找到相應的英文單詞，然後用所學的語法去套出要講的英文句子。如此下來，說出去的句子結結巴巴，常常他還沒說完，對方早把話搶了過去，語速飛快地又丟過來一大堆話。這樣的話他當然聽不明白，而“pardon”多了也不是辦法，結果對方早已失去了交談的興趣，而他自己也信心盡失。
但他不是輕易放棄的人。jerry想，不如試試退回來“閉門造車”練英語。自從有了這種“頓悟”，他開始把自己當作一個牙牙學語的孩子，完全用耳朵去感受純正的發音，去捕捉一個個單詞的開音合音、脣音齒音，去熟悉一個個句子的抑揚頓挫。
jerry說，在開始的大半年裏，他發癡似地尋找英語中每一個準確的發音部位，然後一遍遍地模仿。有時爲了一個單詞的準確發音，要練上一千多遍。他說，這真是個很痛苦的過程。
這期間，他做了很多旁人認爲是“crazy”的事情，比如：刻意只看英文電視報紙，不交中國朋友，把電腦裝成英文系統，甚至把自己關在房間裏大聲跟電視主持人練發音等。jerry說，這樣做了一段時間的確有了成效，而不只有他可以做到這些事情，任何人都可以，但是有個前提條件，就是：“onlyifyoureallywantto!”

去年有一件事深深地觸動了我。有一天我感冒了，很嚴重。我嘶啞着嗓子去給學生上課，那天恰巧我穿了件新衣。剛走進教室，初中七年級的學生們就圍了上來大呼小叫地說：“miss zhu beaitiful beaitiful，miss zhu！”我剛張開嘴讓他們安靜下來，突然有個聲音大聲地說：“不要吵了！老師的嗓子啞了！老師的嗓子都啞了！”頓時整個教室安靜了下來，學生們都在自己的座位上端正地坐好，安靜地看着我。
當我張開嘴讓他們跟着我念單詞時又有同學舉手提議：“老師，我們今天學唱英文歌吧！我們能自己跟着磁帶學，那樣你的嗓子會好得快些，媽媽說嗓子啞了要少說話！”多懂事的孩子，只知他們平時愛惹我生氣，不知他們竟也知道關心我！下課了，孩子們硬要把剝好的橘子塞進我的嘴裏，說：“老師吃了它吧！吃了你的嗓子就會好了！”在那一刻我感受到了三十多顆幼小的心靈對我的撫慰，感受到了他們對我的理解和支持，作爲一名幼兒教師我心甘情願了！
去年十二月，我要教四個班的英語、要忙於迎接期末考試、要爲教師文藝匯演緊張地排練、要爲聖誕節英語晚會準備初中七年級的英語節目。初中生懂的'英語比較少，我沒法將臺詞寫下來讓他們自己去背，只能嘴對嘴的一字一詞地教。緊張的排練和不定時的加班幾乎壓垮了我，我真想甩手不幹了。
有一天幾遍排練下來後孩子們已經練得氣喘吁吁了，我說：“你們累了，就早點休息吧！”可是沒有一個孩子離開我，他們圍在我身邊仰着小臉懇切地說：“老師，咱們再練一會兒吧！我們不累！真的，我們不怕累！”看着孩子們汗津津的小臉，我突然感到自己是那麼的軟弱。我說，你們不怕，老師也不怕，咱們一起練。排練結束後，我和孩子們一起笑着鬧着，心裏感受到一種從未有過的輕鬆，我知道是孩子們幫助了我，鼓舞了我。當我在臺下看着他們成功的表演時，淚水再也忍不住地流了下來，作爲一名人民教師愛的奉獻是無盡的。
